Yarn and pins on wall. An appropriation of Donald Judd’s 1969 Untitled blue aluminum wall piece.

Donald Judd was the preeminent Minimalist sculptor of the 20th century. His works, which he dubbed “Specific Objects”, can be seen en masse in the tiny little West Texas town of Marfa. It is there that he built an art center to be the ideal site to show his large scale works. Marfa also showcases the works of a handful of other artists whose work he felt was worthy of the space in which they were shown. Anyone who makes the trip to this isolated town of 2000 residents will see bumper stickers on the backs of local trucks asking “WWDJD?” (What Would Donald Judd Do?) and declaring “I c DJ”.
