ABOUT THIS PROJECT: Double the Money: An experiment in Art+Commerce
On October 3rd, 2014 artist Theresa Gooby launched an interactive, multi-media, social and public art project called "Double the Money: an Experiment in Art and Commerce". For 10 weeks beginning October 3rd, 2014 she offered a NEW original work of art for sale directly to through her email list.
Beginning Friday June 19, 2015 she will launch the second round of Double the Money.
The very first week one piece of artwork will be sold for $1. The next week, the price will double to $2. The following week the price will double to $4, etc. etc. This will go on for 10 weeks, the price doubling every week.
People who sign up to get on Theresa's email list will receive an email every Friday at 1pm for 10 weeks. The email will have a picture of that week's art for sale and the price. You have 2 hours to respond if you want to buy it. A winner will be randomly chosen from all the responses that come between 1 and 3pm.
After Week One, anyone who's been the winner once before on this project is unable to be the winner again *unless* no one else has shown interest by Saturday midnight. In short, you can only buy one piece of work from this project unless there is another work that no one else wants but you.
How will the newly purchased artwork be delivered? If the winner is local to Beacon NY, in-person delivery will be arranged. If it needs to be mailed the buyer will be responsible for paying the mailing costs. Payment by cash and checks (local) and PayPal or credit card for purchases over $20.
Theresa Gooby is a artist who's work has been exhibited nationally. She holds a BFA from the University of New Mexico and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.
