Uncanny Garden explores themes of growth, transformation, mystery, identity and absurdity. In this series of works on paper, nature and the human connection to the natural world are forefront. These figures in this show challenge the dominant narrative  of identity, allowing elements of the natural world to embody representations of the self. Long held beliefs of traditional propriety are directly at odds with the unstoppable creep of nature. At the same time, nature is being propelled by the invisible hand of civilization. The characters in Uncanny Garden wink at the viewer, but absurdity should not be mistaken for folly. We are living in a time that asks us to accept highly preposterous situations as the norm and we will all have to figure out a way to exist between the two.
